Fun December Day

Today was just one of those fun days. We had such a great time. First, Emma and I went to a friend's birthday party: morning at the park and city fire house.

Then, we had the most amazing Italian dinner with friends. Tasty pastas, sauce, cupcakes, salads, and cookies.  It was nice conversation around the table as always. Emma ran around barely eating a bite, while David chomped away on his baby cereal and carrot purée. He was passed around and loved on the whole night. Emma played with the kids and stamps and got ink on her hands and face. We left and it was hugs and kisses and yummy leftovers all around.

Afterwards, David fell asleep as soon as we got into the car, so we took a slight detour and drove through an amazing neighborhood that took Christmas lights to the next level. It was definitely a blast for Emma as we let her pop her head out of the sunroof to see everything.  She sat on Daddy's shoulders, actually, his head. (We got several looks and smiles. Someone even yelled "Nice hat".  She yelled "Merry Christmas" to all of those driving past and waved.  She was most excited and shouted "hooray" intermittently throughout the night. I love bringing her to do these types of things. It makes it more fun for everyone involved because she is so excited about life. I know I smile more because of her wonderful attitude and zest for life. Her smile is truly contagious.

Once we got home, we unloaded the car, whisked Emma off to the bath, and got David a bottle.

I'm glad we all had such an amazing time together. I sat and rocked with Emma as she laid her head against me, brushing strands of her wet hair from her face, and  feeling really grateful for the fun memories we made today. When I asked her what she liked best about the day, she said "fire trucks" and "mighty machines".  [smiles]

She said the prayer tonight. It was a prayer of thanks.
